About the role:
They are looking for Multi Skilled & Excavator Operators to join a company that provides specialized large-scale complex coal mining services throughout the Bowen Basin.
This site in particular undertakes all operations excluding drill and blast services. The mine produces both semi soft coking coal and PCI coal. A favourable strip ratio and generous seam thickness means the mine is highly productive hence the ongoing requirements for production operators.
- Operating a variety of equipment on a open cut mine site.
- Maintain high standard of housekeeping on equipment.
- Communicate with other operators and assist in traffic management.
To be considered a Multi skilled operator you will require 2 or more skills out of the following skills list
- Haul Trucks
CATERPILLAR 789, 793 & 797
CATERPILLAR D10 & D11
CATERPILLAR 16 & 24
CATERPILLAR 992 & 994
LIEBHERR 996, 9350 & 9800,
HITACHI 2500, 3600 & 5500
You must display a stable work history with a minimum of 12 months coal mining experience in a production operation capacity. You must have a safety first attitude and a positive cando work ethic.

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
Caterpillar Haul truck 793
The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
You can transfer your nationally recognised civil Excavator, Front End Loader or Dozer tickets only to RII Black Coal Competencies.
Standard 11 Mining Induction
The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).
If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.
The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
There are 6 units of study (competency) in the Standard 11. This course can not be completed online. Find out more about how you can complete the Standard 11 Mining Induction at a location close to you
