WA Mining Jobs created with $520 million iron ore mine extension

BGC Contracting wins big with Koolyanobbing Iron Ore project!

After winning a major contract extension, it is predicted that BGC Contracting will create a whole host of new WA mining jobs over the next five years. The $520 million extension to their contract with Cliffs Natural Resources will see the Koolyanobbing Iron Ore project operate for another five years, to 2022.

BCG forms part of BGC Australia Pty Ltd, which is one of the largest privately owned companies in Australia, specialising in contracting, manufacturing and construction organisation. In 2004 they joined with Cliffs at the Koolyanobbing Iron Ore project where they initially offered off-road haulage services, before expanding in 2007 to include mining operations.

Throughout this contact extension they are looking at bringing three open pits into production at the Range F deposit, which is predicted to produce nine million tonnes of iron ore a year for the next three years.

As the mine site begins to re-gain momentum, you should think about upskilling to increase your mining job prospects in the WA iron ore mining sector!
