Minjar Gold Pty Ltd is an emerging gold producer with operations in Western Australia and North Queensland. With their parent company based in China, Minjar Gold has embarked on bold expansion plans as they seek to become a mid-tier gold producer in Australia.
Minjar Gold’s acquisition of the Pajingo Gold mine in North Queensland was an important step on there growth journey. The Pajingo mine is around 75km from Charters Towers and currently employs around 200 people to run the underground mining and ore processing operations.
Charters Towers is close to Townsville and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. It also offers excellent schooling opportunities and has all of the facilities you would expect for a large regional township.
Pajingo Mining Gold mine Plant Metallurgist Queensland
Supporting their current expansion strategy for the Pajingo Mine, and reporting into the Mill Manager, they are seeking a Senior Plant Metallurgist to join on a full time permanent basis on 5/2 and 4/3 roster, ideally, they are searching for someone who would either like to move to Charters Towers or do a DIDO from Townsville or similar.
The role:
The primary purpose of this role is to monitor and report plant metallurgical performance and provide technical support to the production team to assist in achieving budgeted gold output.
- Provide technical support to the production team to assist in achieving budgeted gold output
- Monitor and ensure that key plant operating parameters remain within target
- Monitor and ensure that consumption of process consumables remain in line with budget
- Ensure achievement of budget plant recoveries through agreed metallurgical practices and procedures
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting, forecasting and reporting
- Provide professional, timely technical advice to mine site personnel as required
- Deliver technical training and awareness programs to mine site personnel
- Ensure good clear communication lines within team and with other sections/departments
- Actively promote continuous improvement to improve safety, improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs
- Identify, initiate and conclude metallurgical projects which will enhance the Processing plant performance
- Oversees operation of the site assay lab and Gold room
- Manage and mentor the Lab and Gold room personnel
- Scope, motivate and manage Metallurgical based projects
Are you the one?
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Minerals Processing
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in gold extraction
- Competent user of MS Word, Project and Excel
- Demonstrated continuous improvement and project management skills are essential
- Experience with leading and supervising a small team
