Experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters – Bowen Basin
Nobul is currently working closely with one of Australia’s largest Mining companies by sourcing them highly skilled maintenance staff for their Bowen Basin sites.
By owning some of the most well-known open cut mining projects in the Bowen Basin has allowed them to sustain their footprint in the industry. It’s a great opportunity for you to secure a long-term position with this ever growing company.
The Role
Being a HD Fitter, you will have the opportunity to work in both the workshop & field environments. This provides you with a variety of work whilst having the luxury of being on only one site.
Your main responsibility will be first response call outs, fault finding, diagnosing complications and general workshop maintenance.
These positions are based in the Southern End of the Bowen Basin. Machinery on site: Haul Trucks – CAT 789, 777 & 793’s, Komatsu 830E & 930E’s. Excavators & Shovels – CAT 6040, Komatsu 1250 & Liebherr 996’s. Dozers – CAT D11 & D10’s. Graders – CAT 18 & 16’s

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

Caterpillar Haul truck 777
The Caterpillar 777 is a 100-ton haul truck, typically used in open pit mining, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. The first model of Caterpillar 777 was introduced in 1974. Its diesel engine is capable of putting out 870 horsepower. The 777D, introduced in 1996, was powered by a 938-horsepower diesel.
This truck is one of the entry-level haul trucks most new operators will learn on. Once competent, they will move up to the larger 785, especially when working on a coal mining site.
Caterpillar Haul truck 793
The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.
The 793F, is an autonomous-driven truck. Over 100 793F trucks are now operating via Command for hauling, the Cat autonomous truck operations system, which is a part of Cat MineStar™

Caterpillar Haul truck 789
The Caterpillar 789 dump truck is typically used in open pit mining. The 789 has a capacity of 177 tonnes, and its engine can produce 1770 horsepower.
There are hundreds of CAT 789 dump trucks on various mine sites in Australia; working hard in open-cut coal mines as well as hauling raw iron ore dirt across the open, dusty mine sites of Western Australia.

Komatsu 830E Haul Truck
The Komatsu 830E is an ultra class dump truck used in Australian open pit mining operations an is designed and built in Peoria, Illinois by Komatsu America Corporation (parent company is the Japanese held company Komatsu Ltd.
The Komatsu 830E is a beast, with 231,000 kilogram capacity (255 short tons). Although this is a big truck, the 830E's load capacity is about 66% the capacity of the Liebherr T 282C and Caterpillar 797B.
This is an electric truck and is being featured in many new mining operations as well established mines in WA and QLD.The electric drive system is very different fromt the transmission/differential drive of traditional trucks. The diesel engine is connected to a GE traction alternator with high voltage cables transfering electricity to the two wheel motors at the rear of the truck.
