Chess Electrics provides electrical and refrigeration services to the mining, oil and gas industries in the Mackay & Coalfields area. Carrying out maintenance, shutdowns and major projects throughout Queensland.
Chess Electrics are seeking qualified electricians to work at various mine sites. If you have a proven safety record and pride yourself on high standards then we are searching for you to join our team.
These roles are suitable to local residents in the Bowen Basin region (Mackay, Moranbah, Emerald, Rockhampton, Bowen). Applicants outside this area will not be contacted. These are not FIFO roles.
About the Role:
Electrical projects and installations to a variety mining infrastructure. CHPP maintenance and shutdowns. Dragline and rope shovel maintenance and shutdowns. Electric drive truck construction.
Essential Criteria:
- Current Queensland Electrical licence
- Standard 11 Induction Training Statement of Attainment and/or BMA CoreCoal Board Medical
- Current CPR/LVR certificate
- Current Drivers license
- Working at heights
- Confined Space
- EWP
- Roster & Conditions
- Permanent positions
- Monday to Friday and Monday to Thursday roles
- Camp accommodation provided
- On going training provided

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.
The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
