Senior Metallurgist – FIFO Brisbane QLD

A leading mining operation requires a Senior Metallurgist for a critical leadership role FIFO the East Coast.

A world leading mining operations based in the North QLD that has implemented a wide range of cutting edge mineral processing technologies is currently seeking to expand their team. Consequently they require an experience Senior Metallurgist to join their expert team either on contract or permanently.

Your new role

Reporting into the Metallurgical Superintendent you will be responsible for leading a team of metallurgical professionals to maximize the performance of the processing circuits. This will also include evaluating, developing and progressing various metallurgical projects to increase production and critical equipment efficiency.

In this leadership position you will be responsible for mentoring and training the team whilst ensuring accurate weekly and monthly accounting, planning and performance reports are delivered on time.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will need a tertiary qualifications in either minerals processing, extractive metallurgy, chemical engineering or similar and have proven leadership experience. It is highly desirable that you demonstrated experience within flotation processing with a comprehensive understanding of metallurgical process optimization.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
