Most people without mine and resources specific skills are usually employed by contracting companies . Small Contractors will employ unskilled workers and train them only to be poached by larger companies.

 

Labour Hire employment is the most common type of entry into the mines for workers with skills. These employees work either for the Mining /Resource companies or the larger contractors usually at different rates of pay and are casual employees. They are subject to the same rules as permanent employees but don`t have the same benefits or protection.

      Hi Stephen, thanks for your question.

      The best way to get this list is to Google it. Find the list of employers on the jobs boards – there a ton of them out there.

    hi,
    i am a cabinet maker by trade have been in this field for the last 8 and 1/2 years..i am really interested in getting into the mining industry..i am a quick learner and will to try anything or take a course that will assist me in any way.

      Hi David
      There are a few different courses you can do but the one that will give you the best result of a mining job would be the Work Ready Program. the course has a placement program at the end that will give you the best chance of getting an interview.
      You would be able to slip into a few different jobs with your experience like service crew, form worker or drillers offsider.
