Location
Thiess’ Curragh Mine Coal Project is located 30km north of Blackwater in the Bowen Basin and is approximately 20 kilometres north of Wesfarmers’ Curragh mine site.
About the Role
As the Human Resources Administrator, the primary function of your role will see you assist the Human Resources Advisor in providing operational support in all aspects of human resources across the Curragh Mine Coal Project.
- Support in the implementation and maintenance of effective HR initiatives
- Support the wider Queensland HR team in the delivery of HR and IR activities
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Advisor and wider HR team.
This role is ideally suited to someone who has experience in supporting blue collar recruitment, enjoys a busy work environment and strives for a career in HR.
To be considered for this role you are required to have:
- HR administration experience in a mining or heavy industry environment
- Strong computer skills including an advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office package
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or currently studying towards them would be highly desirable
- A high level of oral and written communication skills
- Effective problem-solving ability
- The ability to plan, organize and resource effectively

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
