About the role

BHP Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland as part of  there Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager Mobile Maintenance is an exciting opportunity for a high performing professional to be a key decision maker and have strong influence across the maintenance function on site.

Utilizing your well developed leadership skills you will guide and support the Mobile Maintenance function ensuring teams are set up for success and maintenance challenges are dealt with proactively, ensuring stable performance and facilitating a seamless safe delivery.

Other Key Accountability will include:

  • Demonstrate leadership and in still an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Accountability for ensuring the planned performance and integrity of the Mobile Mining Equipment (Trucks, Loaders, Dozers, Graders, Water Carts and other ancillary mobile equipment) all at the lowest practical cost
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a Tertiary qualification in Engineering and bring a detailed knowledge of theories and practices related to heavy duty Mobile Maintenance. You will be a seasoned professional with a passion for guiding, developing and influencing teams and individual team members through mentoring and coaching.

With exposure to asset management principles, notably overall equipment effectiveness and a strong understanding of maintenance system processes, you will be confident in working through change management in a complex environment.

They also value diversity in experience and your career history will testify to your ability to demonstrate strong critical reasoning skills and quickly grasp technical problems and complex theories and concepts. Energetic and driven, with a strong understanding of safe operations and safe behaviour fundamentals you work well under pressure bringing a high attention to detail and the consistent ability to meet multiple deadlines.

A performance and achievement orientated professional, your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent engagement and communication skills. Proactive, credible and influential, you relate well with people, communicating confidently and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
A Minimum of C class manual drivers license is a requirement for this role.

Location

You will be based at our ‘Mining Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out on a 5/2-4/3-9/5 roster. Mining Area C is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis and TV. All rooms at the village have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
