Job Details:

  • Residential; 7 days on, 3 days off, 7 nights on, 4 days off
  • 11.5 hours per shift inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid meal break

The successful applicant will be responsible for the hands on supervision of as well as carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance to equipment enrolled within the contract.

Job Duties:

  • Carry out repairs, maintenance and servicing on a range of Caterpillar Equipment
  • Identifying and recommending preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Completion of in field diagnosis and repairs
  • Completing warranty repair work and reports
  • Manage work orders including ordering parts as required
  • Carrying out Caterpillar product improvement plans and product support program
  • Maintaining safe work practices and a safe work environment

Leading Hand Plant Mechanic Mining Goldfields NSW

Essential Criteria:

  • Australian Recognized Heavy Duty Mechanical Trade Qualification with a minimum of 3 – 5 years post trade experience
  • At least 12 months experience in a leadership role, or ability to demonstrate strong leadership strengths
  • Working at Heights, Dogging and Rigging, Overhead Crane, Forklift and Air Conditioning tickets/licenses.
  • Current C Class License (“HR” class preferred)
  • Previous use of safety and risk assessment tools, such as Job Safety Analysis and Take 5’s
  • Ability to work successfully within a team, autonomously and unsupervised
  • Familiarity with service literature
  • Excellent fault finding skills
  • Ability to organize work teams and delegate tasks
  • Sound knowledge of Caterpillar literature and work order systems
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
