Senior Drill and Blast Engineer Mining in Bowen Basin QLD
A well established coal mining house requires an experienced Senior Drill and Blast Engineer to join their open cut operation on a 7/7 roster FIFO Brisbane or residential to the Bowen Basin.
Your new role
Reporting into Technical Services Superintendent you will responsible for the development and implementation of efficient drill and blast designs, plans and scheduling to optimize operational delivery. In a day to day capacity you will develop drill pattern, load sheets and tie up plans and effectively these to the drillers and blasting contractor.
Drawing from your extensive experience in mining you will ensure safety is incorporated into all your plans whist continually searching for improvement initiatives.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful you will be a tertiary qualified Mine Surveyor with demonstrated experience working in an open To be successful you will have a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering combined with demonstrated experience in a drill and blast focused role within in an open coal cut mining.
It is also highly desirable that you have proficient in Vulcan and Spry and have previous leadership experience.

About the Bowen Basin
The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
