Minjar Gold’s recent acquisition of the Pajingo Gold mine in North Queensland was an important step on growth journey. The Pajingo mine currently employs around 200 people to run the underground mining and ore processing operations. A large proportion of workforce resides in Charters Towers which is 75km from the Pajingo mine site.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Mine Surveyor to join their Technical Services team on site. Reporting directly to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the primary focus of this role is to provide timely and accurate surveying to the mine operations team while working closely with Technical Services to develop and maintain accurate mine plans.

The role forms part of a small, dedicated team, and will call on your ability to manage multiple priorities.

They offer a very competitive salary combined with an 8 on, 6 off day roster. This position is offered as a residential position, FIFO from Brisbane or QLD Regional Centers, or DIDO from Townsville. Financial assistance may be negotiated to relocate to Charters Towers, QLD.

The primary duties of the role are:

  • Carry out all operational survey requirements in a timely manner
  • Carry out end of month reporting
  • Prepare and maintain and accurate survey plans of the mine
  • Manage all survey aspects of the mine to assist the Mine in delivering budget tonnes/grade and keeping the mine on design
  • Develop and drive forward continuous improvement initiatives within the survey team
  • Ensure production information is accurately recorded

Do you have the following skills and attributes?

  • Tertiary qualification in surveying
  • At least 2 years’ underground mine surveying experience in metaliferous mines
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing process improvement within the survey department
  • Understanding of relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulation
  • Strong working knowledge of survey systems and equipment.
  • Experienced in at least one mine cad package, preferably Surpac.
  • Persons who hold, or are currently working towards, the registered surveyor qualification for Queensland mines will be highly regarded
