About the Role

BHP Nickel West is seeking applications for apprenticeship roles in the following disciplines:

• Northern Regions – Plumber, Electrical Instrumentation Technician and Mechanical Fitter
• Kwinana Refinery – Electrical Technician and Mechanical Fitter

Apprenticeship programmed is designed to deliver the high standard of learning required to gain a trade qualification. Throughout the programmed you will gain invaluable hands on experience and participate in a range of classroom based practical and theoretical training whilst under the supervision and guidance of an experienced mentor.

Candidates must have the following:

• As a minimum, you will have completed Year 12 with sound passes in English and Maths
• Completion of relevant pre‑apprenticeship, work experience or vocational training will be highly regarded, as will an aptitude and interest in mechanical or electrical subjects
• Extra-curricular activities which demonstrate team work will be looked upon favourably

Nickel West Leinster

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness center, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course. Nickel West Cliffs

Nickel West Cliffs is located approximately 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Cliffs underground Nickel Mine is an integral part of Nickel West Leinster comprising of a nickel concentration and dryer, located 12 kilometres south of Nickel West Mt Keith. Employees at Cliffs reside at the Mt Keith village, some of the amenities at your disposal include internet connection, outdoor swimming pool, health and fitness equipment, indoor cricket, basketball court, BBQ areas plus and arrange of social activities.

Nickel West Mt Keith

Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometers north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields. Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with an open pit and concentrator plant. The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna. There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Take the heat off the day and head to the pool – or join in a game of footy. BBQ dinners are regularly held and other social activities include movie nights. Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or form regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.

Nickel West Kwinana

Located 30 kilometres south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder. While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region is a thriving coastal township with three public beaches, excellent schools, modern shopping facilities and a wide variety of housing options. As part of commitment to health and safety Nickel West Kwinana is a smoke free operation.

They believe there are significant competitive advantages for Nickel West to move downstream into the battery chemical business. They also plan to invest in a Nickel Sulphate plant to be built at Kwinana refinery south of Perth.
