Reporting to the Senior HV Engineer, this pivotal role will see you project controlling internal and external resources to maintain the integrity of the Liberty Onesteel Whyalla and Simec mining operations High Voltage Distribution Systems and high energy LV switchgear. You will assist in developing and deploying strategies and policies for its operation, development and maintenance, as well as performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Liberty Onesteel’s hardware such as transformers, switchgear, protection relays, cables and aerials

The incumbent in this position is responsible for maintaining the expected high availability of the power distribution network through championing safety and best practice electrical work methods. You will also be implementing HV group policy through execution of the asset strategy in different plant environments with competing demands. This role will also be responsible for giving excavation clearances on the Whyalla and mines sites.

The ideal candidates will possess significant experience within a similar role, ideally within a heavy manufacturing environment. To be successful in this role, exposure to a wide range of electrical power distribution systems and an understanding of the operation of power generation plants is critical. The ability to manage operational security risk, as well as PC literacy and problem solving ability will see you succeed in an environment where safety and customer are paramount. An unrestricted electrical license (A Class) is also desirable. This role may involve overtime as required, including after-hours call-outs and planned shutdowns.
