Haul Truck Operator Mining services Central QLD

The client’s expertise spans most of the world’s commodities including metallurgical and thermal coal, iron ore, copper, nickel, gold, diamonds and oil sands. They offer the widest range of in-house surface mining capabilities and critical underground mining services. From fully resourced, end-to-end solutions, to targeted services, to supporting clients’ in-house teams, our focus is on flexibility.

About the Role

Reporting to the production superintendent, you will operate Haul Trucks, consisting of CAT 785C, KOM HD785-5, CAT 789B, CAT 966D or CAT 793C. As a key member of a high performing team, you will play an integral role in implementing the client’s production requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate CAT 785C, KOM HD785-5, CAT 789B, CAT 966D, CAT 793C
  • Work rotating 7/7 rosters at a mine site in the Bowen Basin
  • Pre-start checks
  • Maintain equipment
  • Operate equipment safely
  • Follow company policies and procedures

Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience on the above machinery (preferred)
  • RII’s for Machinery you have operated
  • Standard 11 Induction Training Coal Mining Induction
  • Section 4 Coal Board Medical
  • Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol Screen
  • Outstanding attitude towards safety
  • Reliable track record for attendance

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Caterpillar 785 Haul Truck, Dump Truck or off-road truck as they are called in the U.S. are still used across the world in open-cut mining operations. This huge truck has proven it’s worth for many years and has often been the entry-level truck for new operators.

The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.

The 793F, is an autonomous-driven truck. Over 100 793F trucks are now operating via Command for hauling, the Cat autonomous truck operations system, which is a part of Cat MineStar™

The Caterpillar 789 dump truck is typically used in open pit mining. The 789 has a capacity of 177 tonnes, and its engine can produce 1770 horsepower.

There are hundreds of CAT 789 dump trucks on various mine sites in Australia; working hard in open-cut coal mines as well as hauling raw iron ore dirt across the open, dusty mine sites of Western Australia.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
