There team ensures that council spaces are well maintained and always ready for use by residents, are sustainable into the future, and significant assets, community buildings, roads, drainage, fleet, parks and open spaces provide the required level of service in a cost effective manner for present and future residents.

Penrith City Council’s City Works department undertakes civil maintenance and construction activities utilizing a combination of resources including both internal staff and external contractors.

An exciting opportunity currently exists within the team for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person with the required skills and qualifications to lead, plan and coordinate the day to day activities in the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure assets.

You will be responsible for the direct supervision of a work team undertaking activities associated with the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage and concrete assets, ensuring the activities are carried out in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner.

This position operates on a 76 hour, nine day fortnight.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Construction or related area
  • Class C Driver License
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White) Card
  • Extensive experience in Civil construction and maintenance
  • Experience in the supervision of work teams and contractors
  • Ability to complete accurate written record keeping of all activities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity principles

Desirable Criteria

  • RMS Traffic Control tickets (Blue/Yellow/Red)
  • Class MR License
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Confined Spaces Legislation Certificate
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment
  • Knowledge in the performance capabilities of various plant

The position is located at Council’s major depot in Kingswood, 5 minutes from the Penrith City Center, and close to public transport. You will enjoy flexible working conditions, an active staff social club and have access to educational assistance and salary sacrificing options.

Commencing Salary: $66,000 – $75,700 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation
