WorkPac currently have opportunities for experienced Multi Skilled Operators for an Immediate Start within the Bowen Basin, near Dysart.
These positions will be full time, permanent opportunities direct with our client on a 7/7 roster.
BIBO from Mackay or Rockhampton and Yeppoon or DIDO commute options available.
Duties and Responsibilities will Include:
- Operate a combination of Haul Trucks, Graders, Dozers and Excavators in a coal mining environment
- Work 7/7 roster at a mine site in the Bowen Basin, near Dysart
- Pre-start checks
- Maintain equipment
- Operate equipment safely
- Follow company policies and procedures
Skills/Experience
- Proven Haul Truck experience, specifically in CAT 785, 793’s, Komatsu 960 or Terex 4400’s
- Proven Grader experience, specifically in CAT 16, 24 series
- Proven Dozer Experience, specifically in CAT CAT D10, D11
- Proven Experience Operating 3600, 5500 Hitachi Excavators or Similar
- Current Drivers Licence
- RII’s, or proven experience with SSE signed skills list – Mandatory within 5 years
- Current Standard 11 Induction Training Statement of Attainment, or willing to obtain

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.
The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Caterpillar Haul truck 785
The Caterpillar 785 Haul Truck, Dump Truck or off-road truck as they are called in the U.S. are still used across the world in open-cut mining operations. This huge truck has proven it’s worth for many years and has often been the entry-level truck for new operators.
Progressing when competent, operators move up to the larger CAT 793 and CAT 797 truck, giving them the confidence and ability to handle larger load capacities on a range of challenging mine sites.

Caterpillar Haul truck 793
The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.
The 793F, is an autonomous-driven truck. Over 100 793F trucks are now operating via Command for hauling, the Cat autonomous truck operations system, which is a part of Cat MineStar™

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
