Health & Safety Officer – Capcoal Underground Operations – 15 month Fixed term contract
As a Health & Safety Officer reporting to the Safety Superintendent, you will provide internal client services to key stakeholders coupled with core administration support in driving the team’s key performance targets. In this pivotal role, you will deliver systems support and other specialist health and safety services to the business through the development and implementation of agreed plans, front line engagement with the underground and surface workforce, monitoring and reporting against key performance measures and emerging trends, and complete core work activities in accordance with corporate policy and procedures.
You will also work with the leadership team to provide advice to line managers in all aspects of health and safety management and encourage safety leadership across the site and ensure that key deliverables meet compliance standards as per legislative requirements.
To be successful for this role you will have demonstrated previous work experience with underground mining from a health and safety perspective. You would be required to have previous experience in incident investigation and risk management techniques and processes, as well as a strong aptitude for data analysis and review. Experience with QLD Coal Mining Safety and Health Management System document control, injury management/rehabilitation and return to work processes will also be highly regarded. It is desirable but not mandatory to hold relevant tertiary qualification in the Health and/or Safety discipline.
You will also display exceptional communication skills that will enable you to influence key stakeholders and achieve accountability and ownership. Moreover you will exhibit a safety mind set and be able to think strategically to achieve clear safety and health goals.
