Despite a decision to put on hold the expansion of the Olympic Dam, BHP Billiton has 20 other major mining projects currently in stages of development in Australia, with a combined budget of US$22.8 billion. BHP Billiton is largely committed for the 2013 financial year. No major mining project approvals are expected over this timeframe.
