Downer EDI, one of Australia’s premier infrastructure and engineering management companies, has won a new contract worth up to $US 250 million.
The contract allows Downer EDI to keep providing mining services at a South East Queensland coal mine.
Downer Jobs Secured For Another 5 Years
Downer jobs at the�Commodore open cut coal mine will be secured for another 5 years from September 1st 2014. Since 2000, Downer has provided mining services at the coal mine which services the the Millmerran Power Station.
The new contract is estimated to be worth around $US 200 -� 250 million; as well as an option to provide mining management services for another 5 years.
CEO of Downer, Grant Fenn said that the contract has been awarded to the company due to the strength of their relationship with Millmerran Power Partners.
Mr Fenn also made note of the fact that the Commodore coal mine has become a Downer flagship mining project in terms of environmental sustainability.
The mine was one of the first open cut coal mines in the world to completely switch its total fuel use to biodiesel and was instrumental in establishing a program to independently verify methane emissions.
