The best advice I can give is for you to contact Xstrata directly and send them your resume. Go directly to the company – it’s the only way….and keep trying until you get an answer.

Hi Lucky (let’s hope you are when you’re looking for your mining apprenticeship)

The best way is to get online and start searching for mining apprenticeships as a diesel mechanic. There are a lot of mining jobs boards with current job vacancies for diesel mechanics on mycareer.com.au. It might not be an apprenticeshp, but you can enquire anyway. That’s the trick to getting a mining job. Keep looking for jobs online, call the recruitment companies, get your resume ready and ask your friends or relatives if they know anyone in the mines – word of mouth is very powerful.
