Cougar Stratajacks is a specialist in the supply and installation of a revolutionary Australian designed and manufactured standing roof support system.

Cougar Stratajacks are currently seeking two experienced Underground Mining Technicians to join there team one in NSW and one in Qld. Initially these roles will be to learn the processes with the view to taking on supervisory positions in the foreseeable future.

Key of Duties

  • Installation of Stratajacks underground including planning of materials and equipment
  • Assist in the development of processes including QA
  • Supervision of crew to achieve targets with focus on safety
  • Liaise with the Project Manager, Safety & Training Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisors and Client Representatives on issues affecting the workplace and or work progress

Role Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year working in an underground mine environment
  • Knowledge and experience to operate Diesel underground equipment
  • Attention to detail and planning to ensure that materials are available and in place to maintain installation rates
  • Excellent risk management and safety behaviours with a strong safety focus and commitment to site related safety standards
  • Driven productivity focus
  • Valid Australian drivers license

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
