As next Mining Manager reporting to the Site Manager, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.


Curragh North Coal Project is 30km north of Blackwater in the Bowen Basin.

The Role

Your key focus will be to own the mining production team to achieve outstanding results in:

  • Safety
  • Productivity
  • Innovation
  • Quality
  • Cost management

What will your accountability be?

  • Delivering individual and team production targets through a collaborative approach within the workforce.
  • Providing effective operational and technical leadership to the production department.
  • Assisting and advising the Site and Project Managers with the running of the Curragh North operation.

People management will be a key driver for you. You will coach and mentor the mining superintendent and supervisors to assist with their continuous improvement and personal development.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Previous experience in a similar role with proven success working as production manager are crucial to your success in this role.
  • Highly developed communication and cost management skills combined with a strong commitment to health, safety and the environment.
  • Advanced leadership skills, financial acumen with a great awareness of contractual obligations.
  • Technical services and engineering experience is highly desirable.

About the Bowen Basin

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
