Truck drivers use heavy vehicles such as haul packs to transport goods and materials from one area to another. Truck drivers in the minerals industry may perform the following tasks:

  • Check brakes, oil, tyres, electrical systems, water, hydraulics and air;
  • Load, or supervise loading, material onto the truck;
  • Transport material to destination, and
  • Maintain log books.

Entry is generally through a nationally recognised haul truck training course (RIIMPO311A “ Conduct Haul Truck Operations), a traineeship and/or at least 1 year`s relevant experience.

      Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

      RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.

      Hi my names darryl and i got into a training programme to get my Dump truck operators ticket and black coal (surface) out of hundreds i made it to the final 12 and after 4 mths of intense traning on the job and in the classroom!! I passed and became Qualified to operate dump trucks!! we were to get a job with goldings but they said because of the down turn in the aconomy only some were given a job!! I am a non smoker a non drinker and want to be a good provider to my kids and a good roll model and i am an indigenous man from Australia!! i am a hard worker and feel that if a company out there gives me a job i will be one of there best assetts ever!!       I have my Generic Black coal induction & medical
      My dump truck Competency for Quarry work
      MNQ.OP/23A a Front end load Ticket my WHO&S
      in construction CERT III in construction
      But can’t get my foot in the door i have already spent a lot of money
      Can you help
