Truck drivers use heavy vehicles such as haul packs to transport goods and materials from one area to another. Truck drivers in the minerals industry may perform the following tasks:
- Check brakes, oil, tyres, electrical systems, water, hydraulics and air;
- Load, or supervise loading, material onto the truck;
- Transport material to destination, and
- Maintain log books.

Entry is generally through a nationally recognised haul truck training course (RIIMPO311A ““ Conduct Haul Truck Operations), a traineeship and/or at least 1 year`s relevant experience.
