Supervisor Coal Mining – Goonyella Riverside Mine

About the role
Goonyella Riverside Mine – Owned and operated by the BMA, Goonyella Riverside Mine is one of the world’s largest open cut coal operations, they currently have a new vacancy for a Supervisor Coal Mining in the Production Coal Department . As a Supervisor, you will report to the Superintendent Coal Mining and Post Strip.
The purpose of this role is to supervise a production crew in the safe execution of the mine plan in accordance with operating standards, procedures and defined processes to deliver optimal production outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Execute quality Field Leadership activities targeted at engaging with the workforce
- Understanding and execution of the mine plan
- Crew management in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement, Charter Values and Code of Conduct
- Effectively communicate all pertinent information to stakeholders
- Training and development of crew members to ensure continuity of operations
- Reconciliation of each shift’s data and remediation if necessary
- Conduct thorough incident investigations targeted at identifying the root cause and developing actions to limit the likelihood of a repeat event
- Identification and communication of enabling activities to ensure continuity of operations
About you
The ideal candidate will have the ability and courage to lead change and develop a high performing crew. An absolute commitment to work safely, comply with all site safety standards, compliance with mine working procedures and ensure a safe and environmentally healthy workplace. Well-developed written and verbal skills and the interpersonal skills to facilitate cooperation with production personnel. An ability to plan, organize and coordinate a variety of tasks within a dynamic environment. The ability to effectively use a computer and its associated software programs (Microsoft Office suite). The ability and willingness to work in a team environment. Leadership / supervisory experience within the mining sector coupled with strong people management skills. Experience working in truck and shovel/mining activities preferably within an open cut operation.
