Due to an ever-increasing amount of incoming work, they have an immediate need for 200+ highly skilled and safety focused Fitters, Boilermakers, Electricians, and Intermediate / Advanced Riggers / Scaffolders to join casual shutdown and project crew working on Major CHPP and Dragline shutdowns between October 2017 and February 2018 in the Bowen Basin region. Please note, although accommodation will be provided for the duration of site work, these roles are NOT FIFO.

To be considered for a role it is ESSENTIAL that you have the following skills and experience:

  • Current Coal Board Medical with at least 6 months currency
  • Standard 11 Induction Training or BMA Core Induction – issued within last 5 years
  • RIIWHS202D Enter Confined Space – SOA issued within last 2 years
  • RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights – SOA issued within last 2 years
  • Relevant Australian recognized Trade Certificate
  • Current and relevant High Risk Work License
  • Current Qld Electrical License and CPR/LVR (Electricians)

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Mining experience (Especially for Electricians)
  • CHPP maintenance experience
  • Dragline maintenance experience
  • Current induction for mine sites within Bowen Basin
  • First Aid / CPR

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
