About the role
As next Haul Truck Operator you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
This role is a permanent position that will see you working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 7/7 Roster (Wednesday – Tuesday); full camp facilities are available and bus transportation is provided from Mackay, Yeppoon and Rockhampton.
In this role, your responsibilities will include operation of heavy mobile plant equipment and complying with site policies and procedures to ensure effective use of equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
About you
Successful candidates should ideally have proven skills and experience working as a production operator on either Liebherr T282 Electric Dump Trucks or CAT 789 and 793 Mechanical Dump Trucks in an operational coal mine.
Role Requirements as a Haul Truck Operator at Curragh:
- A commitment to a positive safety culture
- Current Driver’s License
- Relevant coal mining certifications (e.g. Standard 11 Induction Training)
- A current Section 4 / Coal Board Medical would be desirable

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.
The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Caterpillar Haul truck 793
The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.

The Caterpillar 789 dump truck is typically used in open pit mining. The 789 has a capacity of 177 tonnes, and its engine can produce 1770 horsepower.
