The safety of employees on Australian mine sites is a high priority. Mining companies and contractors working in Queensland mines need to focus on safety and adhere the correct safety guidelines at all times. A government report indicated there were 183 mining accidents on mine sites in Queensland in February alone.

An Industry Pathways spokeman gave us some insights as to why safety is high on the agenda for mining companies – and highlights the opportunities that exist for people looking to work in the resource sector in an OH&S capacity.

“There are real job prospects for people who hold similar roles in the civil or construction industry” an Industry Pathways spokesman said.

“With a Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety, this can create many opportunities for a well paying career in the mining industry.”
