Due to an ever-increasing amount of incoming work, they are currently seeking applications from highly skilled and safety focused Shutdown / Project Supervisors to join casual shutdown and project crew working on CHPP and Dragline shutdowns in the Bowen Basin.
Please note, although accommodation will be provided for the duration of site work, these roles are NOT FIFO.
To be considered for a role it is ESSENTIAL that you have the following skills and experience:
- Current Coal Board Medical with at least 6 months currency
- Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training* or BMA Core Induction – issued within last 5 years
- Current S1, S2, S3 & G2
- RII's [...Learn about RII's]WHS202D Enter Confined Space – SOA issued within last 2 years
- RII's [...Learn about RII's]WHS204D Work Safely at Heights – SOA issued within last 2 years
- Relevant Mining Supervisory Experience
Desirable skills and experience include:
- CHPP maintenance experience
- Dragline maintenance experience
- Current induction for mine sites within Bowen Basin
- First Aid / CPR

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
You can transfer your nationally recognised civil Excavator, Front End Loader or Dozer tickets only to RII Black Coal Competencies.
Standard 11 Mining Induction
The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).
If your job means you must access a a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.
The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
There are 6 units of study (competency) in the Standard 11. This course can not be completed online. Find out more about how you can complete the Standard 11 Mining Induction at a location close to you
