New FIFO mining contract for Olympic Dam – Alliance Aviation

5 year FIFO contract signals new hope for Olympic Dam

Alliance Aviation will continue to service the Olympic Dam FIFO contract for the next five year, extending their relationship with BHP Billiton.

The current contract finishes in 2016, taking the Adelaide to Olympic Dam service through to June 2021.

Around 15 flights a week will transport workers to and from the mine under the new contract, with ability to increase at short notice with demand from the mine or community.

Alliance Aviation managing director Scott McMillan said Olympic Dam was an important partner for the company.

“This new contract is a reflection of the flexibility that we at Alliance are able to off our customers, and of our ability to embrace change and respond to the changing needs of the industry and the local community,”� he said.

“The existing contract originally started in 2007 and will expire in June 2016.

“We believe that this success is not only a product of responding to the customers` needs but also the reliability and on time performance of the Alliance product.”�

Alliance has also recently extended their contract with Citic Pacific Mining Management by 12 months, which will cover services between Perth and Karratha.

The company also has contracts for services to Christmas Creek, Newman and Port Hedland.

Alliance has pledged to “focus aggressively on costs and efficiency”�, after having sold two F100 aircraft this year, reduced debt by $10 million, and carried out an 18 per cent reduction in the workplace.
