CoreStaff are looking to recruit expression of interests from experienced MMU Operators for numerous sites across the Bowen Basin region.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Load explosives into blast holes
  • Assist Shot Firers where required
  • Mobile Mixing of Explosives
  • Operator MMU Blast Heavy Rigid Vehicle

Successful applicants have:

  • Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training*
  • Current SSAN Police Clearance
  • Hold qualification RII's [...Learn about RII's]BLA203E – Conduct mobile mixing of explosives
  • A strong commitment to safety and a solid understanding of risk awareness
  • Valid HR Licence
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.

Standard 11 Mining Induction

The Standard 11 is a course that provides skill and knowledge required for working in surface coal mines under the QLD Mining Inspectorate Recognised Standard 11.

If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.

The Standard 11 covers essential safety training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.

There are 6 units of competency in the Standard 11. This course can not be completed online. Find out more about how you can complete the Standard 11 Mining Induction at a location close to you.
