Mining Jobs in Queensland are on the rise

According to SEEK, one of the nations top employment sites, advertisements for mining jobs have risen 23 percent in the past year across Australia.�Complementing this, mining jobs in Queensland have risen 34 percent in the same period.

SEEK spokeswoman Sarah Macartney commented on this increase�saying that this rise in job advertisements coincides with the�increase�in commodity prices.

“The top advertised roles on SEEK for the Queensland mining sector from October to December 2016 were mining operations (up 53.3 per cent year on year), engineering and maintenance (up 34.7 per cent) and health, safety and environment (up 92.1 per cent),”� Ms Macartney said.

Who is hiring?

Announcements last year relating to Adani`s Carmichael coal project, the Balla Balla Infrastructure Group iron ore mine in the Pilbara and news of Rio Tinto`s deal to sell its New South Wales coal assets to Yancoal are all great indicators for another rise in mining jobs.�
