The Blackwater coal mine is located in the Central Queensland south of the town of Blackwater, Queensland . The mine has coal reserves amounting to 877 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Australia and the world. It is owned by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance and has an annual production capacity of 13 million tonnes.

NOTE: BMA has six fully operational mines in the Bowen Basin in Queensland (Broadmeadow, Goonyella Riverside, Peak Downs, Saraji, Crinum and Blackwater), this is the best opportunity to find new jobs at these mines.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The GO2 People have been involved in some of Australia’s largest mining, resources sectors and construction projects including this one at Blackwater which is owned by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance.

GO2 are seeking experienced Electricians with mining experience for an immediate start in Blackwater, Queensland.

The role will be DIDO for a 2 week shutdown with camp accommodation and meals provided.

The job will involve the following:

  • Working in the coal handling processing plant
  • Shutdown maintenance of conveyors and other equipment
  • Cable tray and cable install

Successful applicants will have previous experience in a similar environment, with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current QLD Electrical License
  • Current CPR/LVR
  • Existing Coal Board Medical
  • Current Standard 11 Induction Training
  • Commitment to working in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
  • Other qualifications are highly regarded but not essential – Working at Heights, EWP, Dogman, Forklift

About Blackwater

The Blackwater and South Blackwater open-cut mines are owned by the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) whose beneficial owners are BHP Billiton Ltd and Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd.

The coal mines are located 24 km south of Blackwater and are operated by BMA. Medium volatile hard coking coal, medium volatile weak coking coal and medium volatile thermal coal mined here is exported to Japan, Asia, South America, Europe and the Middle East.

Thermal coal is also sold to the Australian market. Saleable coal production for the combined operation is approximately 14 Mtpa. Measured and Indicated coal resources are 877 million tonnes for Blackwater and Blackwater South.

BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia’s and the world’s largest supplier of seaborne metallurgical coal.

BMA has six fully operational mines in the Bowen Basin in Queensland (Broadmeadow, Goonyella Riverside, Peak Downs, Saraji, Crinum and Blackwater). BMA is executing three growth projects in Queensland, including the new Caval Ridge and Daunia mines and the third expansion of the Hay Point Coal Terminal.

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
