A lift in the activity on liquefied natural gas developments on both east and west coasts and increased investment in iron ore and coal export capacity have raised employer`s confidence to its highest level since September 2008, the latest Hudson Employment Expectations survey found.

Western Australia demonstrated the greatest quarterly increase in sentiment across the states and territories, with 43.1 per cent of employers saying they intended to increase their permanent staff levels in the forecast period, up 23 per cent from the previous quarter, the research found. Queensland has also recorded a strong result, up 16.2 per cent to 35.3 per cent. More than 54 per cent of employers in the resources industry reported an intention to increase their permanent staff levels.
