About the Traineeship

An exciting position available for a Mechanical Trainee to join the Mackay Team working in the Bowen Basin mining hub.

As a trainee, you will be working on key projects and shutdowns around Bowen Basin and your main responsibility will be developing your skills around conveyor maintenance, repair, and installation.

You will study and work to obtain a Certificate II in Process Manufacturing. Your learning experience will be a combination of on the job, hands-on experience along with practical theory/classroom training.

About you What you will need

  • Hold a current valid and unrestricted Australian drivers licence;
  • Must be over the age of 18;
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen;
  • A clear national police clearance;
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces;
  • A safety focus with a willingness to learn;

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
