You will be working with a Tier 1 Mining Contractor who requires skilled, experienced and safety minded individuals.

To be successful in these positions you must possess the following skills:

Mandatory Machines

  • Demonstrated experience within the Last 2 years: Mechanical Dump Truck CAT 789 or Above
  • Desireable Machines – Dozer, Excavator 120-400t, CAT 994H Front End Wheel Loader
  • MUST have a Signed SKILLS LIST/COMPETENCIES issued within the last 5 years’ for specific machinery; (General RII's [...Learn about RII's] for Haul Trucks will Not be Accepted)
  • A Strong Commitment to Safety

Documents Required

  • SSE signed competencies
  • Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training*/BMA Statement of Attainment
  • Coal Board medical – Including Chest Xray Read
  • Current Drivers License
  • Passport/Birth Certificate
  • D&A on approval – candidates own cost

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.

Standard 11 Mining Induction

The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).

If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.

The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
