Heavy Diesel Fitter Mobile Plant Coal Mining Maintenance Bowen Basin
Client is a leading specialist provider of large-scale complex mining services to Australia’s major mining companies. This organization works across several mine sites within the Bowen Basin and offer a lifestyle friendly 7/7 roster across all sites.

About the Role
Ongoing opportunities exist for skilled and experienced Diesel Fitters who will contribute to the successful operations of this mine site.
Poistions are avaiable in both workshop and Field, servicing a fleet consisting of Caterpillar 789 Haul Trucks, Komatsu 830 Electric Trucks, D10 and D11 Dozers,
16M Grader, HItachi 5600, 3600 Excavators.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will repair and conduct preventative maintenance on the mobile fleet in the field and workshop. You will also inspect and determine equipment condition and assess its suitability to return to service
Duties and Responsibilities
- General maintenance to mobile plant equipment.
- Excavator maintenance and repairs.
- Mobile plant maintenance and repairs – trucks, dozers, graders and loaders.
- An absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards and ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace is essential.
- Follow all mine site procedures including equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Diesel Fitter role
- Trade certificate
- Experience on heavy equipment including – CAT, Hitachi and Komatsu.
- Current Standard 11 Induction Training
- Current Coal Board Medical
- Beneficial tickets – Working at Heights, Forklift, Crane etc.
- Live within 200kms of Moranbah
- A medical including drug and alcohol testing is required as part of the recruitment process.
- Camp and meals provided.
- BIBO options from Mackay
- 7/7 Roster, rotating days and nights.
- Potential for permanent positions

About the Bowen Basin
The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
Caterpillar Haul truck 789
The Caterpillar 789 dump truck is typically used in open pit mining. The 789 has a capacity of 177 tonnes, and its engine can produce 1770 horsepower.
There are hundreds of CAT 789 dump trucks on various mine sites in Australia; working hard in open-cut coal mines as well as hauling raw iron ore dirt across the open, dusty mine sites of Western Australia.

Komatsu 830E Haul Truck
The Komatsu 830E is an ultra class dump truck used in Australian open pit mining operations an is designed and built in Peoria, Illinois by Komatsu America Corporation (parent company is the Japanese held company Komatsu Ltd.
The Komatsu 830E is a beast, with 231,000 kilogram capacity (255 short tons). Although this is a big truck, the 830E's load capacity is about 66% the capacity of the Liebherr T 282C and Caterpillar 797B.This is an electric truck and is being featured in many new mining operations as well established mines in WA and QLD.
The electric drive system is very different fromt the transmission/differential drive of traditional trucks. The diesel engine is connected to a GE traction alternator with high voltage cables transfering electricity to the two wheel motors at the rear of the truck.
