About the Standard 11
The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).
If you’re a process worker, electrician, plumber, fitter, engineer, architect, cleaner, kitchen hand, chef, office and admin staff, driver, labourer, manager etc and part of your job means you have to work on a Queensland coal mine site – you’ll need a Standard 11.
The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
There are 6 units of study (competency) in the Standard 11, as recognised in the Training in Coal Mines (Qld Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999).
Eligibility: Ability to read and write basic English.
Duration: 2 days. (Standard 11 Brisbane - Standard 11 Townsville)
Training Type: Practical and theory based activities.
Completion: Upon the successful completion of this course (including completion of a skills and experience form with supporting evidence of previous experience, or completion of the Standard 11 log book), participants will obtain a credit card sized ‘Competency ID Card’ along with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
Validity: 5 years with the option to complete a 'paid' refresher course before expiry.

Completion of the Standard 11 can be credited towards advanced mining training packages such as RII20213 Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations.
iMINCO has a registered third party agreement with WorkSafe Connect (RTO 31385) in relation to the recruitment of prospective learners. For Brisbane, Townsville or onsite delivery of the Standard 11 Surface induction training programs, you will be enrolled directly with WorkSafe Connect (RTO 31385) who is the issuing Registered Training Organisation.
Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
You can transfer your nationally recognised civil Excavator, Front End Loader or Dozer tickets only to RII Black Coal Competencies.
Standard 11 Mining Induction
The Standard 11 is a course that provides skill and knowledge required for working in surface coal mines under the QLD Mining Inspectorate Recognised Standard 11.
If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.
