WorkPac currently have a number of opportunities for Skilled Operators to commence work on an open cut coal mine. This job requires applicants to have a valid Standard 11 Induction Training mining induction, which can increase your chance of getting through to the next round. Mining safety and WHS is covered in the Standard 11 Induction Training Induction safety training course.

You will form part of and contribute to the Mine Operations Department of a Bowen Basin Mine which is outside of Blackwater.An absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards and ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace is essential. It is imperative that you possess the ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures.

To be successful in these roles you will possess the following:

Trucks – Minimum 12 months experience on Electric dump truck; Komatsu 730, 830, 930, Hitachi 4400, Terex 3300, CAT 795
Multi skilled – Truck, Grader, Dozer experience required
Excavator – Liebherr 996, CAT 6060, HIT 5500
Previous Mine Site Operating Experience
Current Standard 11 Induction Training
Current Coal Board Medical
Current Driver’s Licence
A willingness to work rotating rosters

      About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

      The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

      The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

      The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

      Komatsu 830E Haul Truck

      The Komatsu 830E is an ultra class dump truck used in Australian open pit mining operations an is designed and built in Peoria, Illinois by Komatsu America Corporation (parent company is the Japanese held company Komatsu Ltd.

      The Komatsu 830E is a beast, with 231,000 kilogram capacity (255 short tons). Although this is a big truck, the 830E's load capacity is about 66% the capacity of the Liebherr T 282C and Caterpillar 797B.

      This is an electric truck and is being featured in many new mining operations as well established mines in WA and QLD.

      The electric drive system is very different fromt the transmission/differential drive of traditional trucks. The diesel engine is connected to a GE traction alternator with high voltage cables transfering electricity to the two wheel motors at the rear of the truck.
