The client is Australia’s largest coal producer and exporter with several mine sites located across the Bowen Basin in Queensland. This company currently has an opportunity available for an Experienced Mechanical Fitter to commence a role immediately on site working on a 7/7 Day Shift Only Roster.

Your new role

The Client is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Fitter with experience and skills in a similar role. This position is an immediate start on a coal mine site located in the Bowen Basin.

You will be required to work on Genie Elevated Work Platforms, Eneraque Gensets and Lighting Plants on site. It is also advantageous, if you have previous experience working with pumps, forklifts and other ancillary equipment.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have a strong safety focus, be a team player and have previous or current experience as a Mechanical Fitter on the above machinery.

As well as holding current Mechanical Fitter Trade, you also must have a current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training*; or willing to obtain.

It is also desirable that you currently hold tickets for EWP, Working at Heights, Forklifts and Cranes.

What you’ll get in return

You will be paid super for all hours worked on site and there is also an opportunity to receive a Temp Worker Recognition Bonus after 6 months of continuous work.

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).

If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.

The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
