Client is Australia’s largest coal producer and exporter with several mine sites located across the Bowen Basin in Queensland. This company currently has an opportunity available Assistant Shot Firers to commence a role immediately on a 6/6 Day & Night Roster.

Experienced Assistant Coal Mining Shotfirers <strong>Bowen Basin</strong>

Your new role

The Client is seeking Assistant Shot Firers with experience and skills in a similar role or industry. This position is an immediate start on a coal mine site located in the Bowen Basin.

This role will see you reporting to the Blast Supervisor and carrying out numerous duties within the Blast Crew which include but not limited to:

  • Dipping & Logging of Blast Holes
  • Assisting with on bench blasting activities
  • Operating IT Loader
  • Off-siding MPU’s
  • Blast Guarding
  • Installation of hole liners
  • Preparing drill patterns for blasting activities

What you’ll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have a strong safety focus, be a team player and have previous or current experience in a similar industry or role.

As well as holding current or previous experience in a similar role, you also must have a current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training*; or willing to obtain.

This role offers you an immediate start in the Bowen Basin area working on a 6/6 Day & Night Roster, with camp accommodation and meals supplied by the client.

You will be paid super for all hours worked on site and there is also an opportunity to receive a Temp Worker Recognition Bonus after 6 months of continuous work.

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
