About the business and the role

The client, a large independent re-seller of building materials is seeking a motivated Plant Operator to work in their Sydney plant. In this newly created role, reporting to the Production Manager, you will be working with state of the art machinery overseeing a fully automated process from raw material to packaged final product. You will use your superior fault-finding capabilities to diagnose problems to determine the solution – either making those minor repairs or adjustments or bringing in the experts.

Safety is key, so you will ensure you are meeting WHS regulations as you will be responsible for the daily manufacturing and warehouse activities. Preventative maintenance such as performing minor repairs and adjustments, managing spare parts inventory as well as assisting to deliver the daily production schedules are also part of your role. There will be career progression opportunities as this business grows, with a further growth plan for 2018.

Skills and experience

  • Electrical aptitude or experience required
  • Mechanical aptitude viewed favourably
  • Ability to fault find using strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in production/warehouse environment desirable
  • Must be energetic, driven and positive
  • Able to be flexible and think on the run

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
