Dump Truck Operators – 5/2 Roster
One Key Resources is a specialist provider of managed workforce services and labour hire to the mining, oil & gas and infrastructure industries. They also help its workers by doing skills and proficiency training and productivity improvement programs.
We are seeking experienced Dump Truck Operators for an Open Cut Coal Mine sites in the Bowen Basin near Middlemount. Their client is a big mining company who are searching for skilled, experienced and safety minded people for ongoing work.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- 3 years+ experience as a Production Operator in a coal mining environment
Proven experience in one or more of the following:
- CAT 789, 793 dump trucks
- CAT 16H/16M or above graders
- Hitachi EX5500 or above (or equivalent) excavators
- CAT D10/D11
CAT 789D Overview
- Engine Model 3516C – HD
- Gross Machine Operating Weight (GMW) 324319.0 kg
- Nominal Payload Capacity 181.0 tonnes
The qualifications/certifications required include:
- RII or SSE signed competencies
- Current Drivers Licence, Passport or Birth Certificate
- Current Standard 11 Induction Training or BMA Induction Statement of Attainment
- Current Coal Board Medical

About the Bowen Basin
The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the worldâ€™s largest deposits of bituminous coal.
The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queenslandâ€™s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.
The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.
The 793F, is an autonomous-driven truck. Over 100 793F trucks are now operating via Command for hauling, the Cat autonomous truck operations system, which is a part of Cat MineStarâ„˘

Caterpillar Haul truck 789
The Caterpillar 789 dump truck is typically used in open pit mining. The 789 has a capacity of 177 tonnes, and its engine can produce 1770 horsepower.
There are hundreds of CAT 789 dump trucks on various mine sites in Australia; working hard in open-cut coal mines as well as hauling raw iron ore dirt across the open, dusty mine sites of Western Australia.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
