2017 Update

The Dugald River zinc mine has started to ramp up from the end of March 2017 as construction ends it’s phase and the new focus is commissioning and production. The project is known as one of the world`s largest and highest grade and undeveloped lead-zinc-silver deposits with a resource of 53 million tonnes.

iMINCO reveals that Dugald River operations manager Sam Rodda stated in the press that process plant operators, maintenance workers and additional support staff are to be the first operational roles advertised. The construction workforce was expected to hit about 500 in the coming months of 2017, with an estimated operational workforce of about 350-400 from in 2018.

“It`s important we start to identify our future operations people to be part of the commissioning aspect of our project,” said Mr. Rodda.

The massive $750 million-plus project, which is located 65km north-west of Cloncurry, was 45 percent complete at the end 2016 and remains on target for first concentrate production at the beginning of 2018. See the latest Dugald River Project update via this link

History of Dugald River

Operations at MMG`s Century zinc mine, near Mt Isa, are due to end in 2016, then Dugald River, with an expected mine life of 22 years, will become the main focus.

Dugald River is expected to produce an average of at least 200,000 tonnes of zinc, 25,000 tonnes of lead and 900,000 ounces of silver in concentrate per year.

Combination residential and FIFOworkforce

The Dugald River project has good access to infrastructure, with a sealed two-lane highway 10 kilometres to the east of the site and water available 11 kilometres to the north. Zinc concentrates are planned to be transported by truck to Cloncurry and then via rail to Townsville.
