Coal Projects Booming
Hancock Coal`s Alpha Project and Kevin`s Corner mega mines in the Galilee Basin will be capable of delivering 60 million tonnes a year of high quality thermal coal and $430 million in royalties to the Queensland State Government with the first shipments planned for 2013.
A massive boost in job opportunities, with thousands of jobs during construction and up to 3000 sustainable jobs once fully operational — also significant numbers of indirect jobs will be generated in the local region and across the state.
A spokesman said the development was much more than two mines.
It is an integrated supply chain, including all related infrastructure ““ the mine sites, port at Abbot Point and a 495km standard gauge rail link will haul 25,000 tonnes of coal at a time.
The mega mines, 70kms from the Alpha township, will share significant infrastructure with the fly-in-fly-out workforce landing on an all-weather on-site airstrip, and bunking down in a high-standard eco-village.
Xstrata`s Wandoan Coal Mine in central Queensland will be another influential supplier of thermal coal for export and possibly domestic markets, with an expected mine life of 30 years.

Hi Gordon
The alpha project will start in early 2011. The first shipment is due to roll out around 2013. They will be constructing the mine, a rail line and the communities surronding. The start of this year saw the employment of 400 people to work on the early preparation. I have updates in our MINING Project news and hope to be able to list some jobs for it soon.
Here is some more information on the Alpha Coal Project http://hancockcoal.com.au/files/publication/HP001_HCPL_FF_Bro_27_July.pdfThanks Pete
