About the role

Currently have drilling projects in the Bowen Basin, with opportunities for Drillers, Trainee Drillers, Licensed Water Bore Drillers and Driller’s Assistants. They are looking for candidates who are hardworking, reliable and have a proactive attitude towards their safety and the safety of others.

Trainee Drillers/ Driller’s Assistants:

  • Available for immediate start
  • Applicable RII's [...Learn about RII's] Certificates in Drilling Operations/ Oil and Gas – Preferred
  • Relevant Drilling Experience – Preferred but not essential.
  • MC/HC/HR Truck License – Preferred (C Class essential)
  • Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training* and Coal Board Medical
  • Demonstrated experience working in remote areas and on a roster – Preferred. Experience is preferred but not essential

Drillers:

  • Available for an immediate start
  • Applicable RII's [...Learn about RII's] Certificates in Drilling Operations/ Oil and Gas
  • Class 1or2 Water Bore License (Water Bore Drillers Only)
  • Standard 11 *Standard 11 Training* and Coal Board Medical
  • Exploration Drilling Experience (Diamond Core) – preferred
  • Large Diameter Mud Rotary/ Hammer – preferred
  • MC/HC Truck License – preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in remote areas and on a roster

The Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers an area of over 60,000 square kilometres in Central Queensland running from Collinsville to Theodore and is dotted with many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.

Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)

Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.

RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.

Standard 11 Mining Induction

The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).

If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.

The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.

There are 6 units of study (competency) in the Standard 11. This course can not be completed online. Find out more about how you can complete the Standard 11 Mining Induction at a location close to you
