Delivering a comprehensive range of surface mining, underground mining and engineering services to the resources sector, Macmahon offers great opportunities for a diverse and exciting career in mining.

The Tropicana Gold Project is a large gold mining operation located 330km north-east of Kalgoorlie, on the edge of Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert. Macmahon’s 10-year mining contract includes all mine planning, drill and blast, load and haul, crusher feed and other associated works.

This position will be on a continuous day and night 14 Shifts on / 7 Shifts off roster, flying from Perth to the Tropicana Project Site.

To be considered for this position you must have;

  • Proven experience in operation of Caterpillar 793 (atleast minimum 3 years)
  • Has more than 3 years of operating Dump Trucks (CAT 777 or bigger models)
  • Previous experience in a large scale and dynamic production mining environment
  • Physically fit for the demands of the role as this is a hard rock gold mining operation
  • Proven ability to operate in a safe and efficient manner
  • Minestar or similar type Dispatch System.

      Caterpillar Haul truck 777

      The Caterpillar 777 is a 100-ton haul truck, typically used in open pit mining, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. The first model of Caterpillar 777 was introduced in 1974. Its diesel engine is capable of putting out 870 horsepower. The 777D, introduced in 1996, was powered by a 938-horsepower diesel.

      This truck is one of the entry-level haul trucks most new operators will learn on. Once competent, they will move up to the larger 785, especially when working on a coal mining site.

      The 793F has a load cpacityof 226.8 ton (US) and a top speed of 60 kilometres an hour. It's a turbocharged air-to-air aftercooled diesel engine that has enhanced power management capability for maximum hauling performance. The C175-16 is a 16-cylinder, four-stroke design that uses long, effective power strokes for optimum efficiency.
