Carmichael Mine Jobs Update – Adani mining jobs update here.
The draft terms of a reference for an environmental impact study (EIS) have been released for Adani Mining`s $16-24 billion Carmichael Coal and Rail Project proposal.
According to the Queensland government, the draft terms of reference detail the scope for the EIS.
The project will include the development of a greenfield open cut coal mine and as well as an underground mine.
Currently, the area to be developed is primarily taken up by cattle.
The project will be supported by rail facilities which may connect through to existing coal export terminals at either or both Abbot Point or Hay Point.
New starters are urged to start preparing themselves for employment in 2017.
The Carmichael mine project is a coal mine in Queensland therefor, there are some mandatory requirements for all workers. See the list below:

The Galilee Basin is the last undeveloped coal resource in Queensland and is expected to become Queensland's largest coal producing region.
"If it proceeds, the mine could potentially produce up to 60 million tonnes of coal a year, predominately to service the Indian domestic power market," Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Stirling Hinchliffe said.

According to Hinchliffe the project would initially employ 5000 workers in the construction phase, then 4000 ongoing mining jobs.
"It's important to note that declaring this proposal a significant project does not constitute Government approval or support for the project, this is just the start of the comprehensive EIS process.
"The draft TOR provides the framework for the EIS and I encourage all interested parties to get in and have their say."
Coordinator General Keith Davies said the scale, potential effects and complexity of the approvals for the project required a rigorous EIS.
"The EIS will consider the potential environmental, cultural and socio-economic impacts on the local community," Mr Davies said.
The proposed $4.1 billion Carmichael Coal Mine is located mostly in the Moray Downs cattle station while the proposed $6 billion railway development is in the Mackay and Whitsunday Regional Council areas.
The mine is about 160 kilometres north-west of Clermont.
Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII)
Commonly refered to as Black Coal Competency (BCC), the RII competency is one that can be attained by an operator who has previously worked in the industry and has completed a number of operating hours on various types of machinery.
RII competency is granted to prove correct and safe operation of mine site machinery. It is a very useful qualification to have, as it confirms the operator has the required experience and expertise.
You can transfer your nationally recognised civil Excavator, Front End Loader or Dozer tickets only to RII Black Coal Competencies.
Standard 11 Mining Induction
The Standard 11 is a workplace health and safety package for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII).
If your job means you must access a Queensland coal mine site - you'll need a Standard 11.
The Standard 11 covers essential safety and procedures training designed to keep you and other workers safe from injury and harm when working on site.
There are 6 units of study (competency) in the Standard 11. This course can not be completed online. Find out more about how you can complete the Standard 11 Mining Induction at a location close to you
