The Hail Creek open cut coal mine in the Bowen Basin Region of Central Queensland, that is located 120 kilometers from Mackay, supplies up to eight million tonnes of hard coking coal to steel mills in Asia and Europe each year. Rio Tinto Coal Australia is a leading mining company in Australia with an established record for developing and managing world standard open cut, as well as underground, coal mines. About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking a experienced Business & Community Services Officer for an Immediate Start based within the Mackay region. As a key member of the HSEC team you will be reporting to the Community Relations Advisor for Hail Creek. You will be responsible for business support systems and providing executive assistance in communities, communications and training activities.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordination & support in organization of the office facilities, equipment & resources
  • Assist coordinating community partnership programs Maintain to community stakeholder engagement tracking system(CSETS)
  • Coordinate key business administration systems and functions Projects and events coordination including assistance in obtaining funding
  • Coordinate meetings & record minutes Provide administrative support to leaders
  • Provide mentoring to junior employees/trainees
  • Processing invoices through SAP system
  • Answering phone calls and front counter queries
  • Administrative duties

Requires

  • Experience in similar role
  • Demonstrated commitment to local community
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Positive and flexible attitude towards people & duties
  • Adherence and demonstrated application of safe work practices
  • A medical with AOD screening as part of the recruitment process

Preferred

  • SAP systems
  • Diploma of Business or similar qualification

About the Bowen Basin mining region, Queensland.

The Queensland Bowen Basin contains the largest coal reserves in Australia. This major coal producing region contains one of the world’s largest deposits of bituminous coal.

The Basin contains much of the known Permian coal resources in Queensland including virtually all of the known mineable prime coking coal. It was named for the Bowen River, itself named after Queensland’s first Governor, Sir George Bowen.

The Bowen Basin covers a total area of over 60,000 square kilometres and is located in Central Queensland; running from Collinsville to Theodore. The entire region is home to many coal mines operated by multiple mining companies.
