Workers made redundant by BlueScope Steel had a life rope offered to them by Mining Company BHP Billiton.
In a move by the company, some 600 former BlueScope Steel workers will get preferred status when it comes to current job vacancies at BHP`s Port Headland and Newman operations.
BHP Mining helping out BlueScope Steel workers
As a deal sweetener, BHP has offered to help with relocation costs. Federal Jobs Minister Chris Evans supports the idea and says government will also provide relocation assistance to workers willing to make the move.
Depending on each applicant`s circumstances, each family can receive $9000 to cover relocation cost.
Any BlueScope Steel employees facing redundancy can call our course manager to discuss pathways to the mining industry.
