Workers made redundant by BlueScope Steel had a life rope offered to them by Mining Company BHP Billiton.
In a move by the company, some 600 former BlueScope Steel workers will get preferred status when it comes to current job vacancies at BHP`s Port Headland and Newman operations.

As a deal sweetener, BHP has offered to help with relocation costs. �Federal Jobs Minister Chris Evans supports the idea and says government will also provide relocation assistance to workers willing to make the move.
Depending on each applicant`s circumstances, each family can receive $9000 to cover relocation cost.
